Authorized by the Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA) of 1972, the Program comprehensively addresses the nation’s coastal issues through a voluntary partnership between the federal government and coastal and Great Lakes states and territories. OCM awards four types of funding to the nation’s 34 state and territory coastal zone management programs to protect, restore, and responsibly develop coastal communities and resources.
