(FEMA) Natural Hazard Risk Assessment Program |
Overview: |
FEMA’s Natural Hazard Risk Assessment Program (NHRAP) has developed the National Risk Index (NRI) to support baseline risk assessments and increase awareness of potential risk from natural hazards. The NRI is available through an online tool to help communities across the nation see and understand their natural hazard risks and resilience possibilities. It leverages best available source data to provide a holistic view of community-level risk nationwide by combining multiple hazards with socioeconomic and built environment factors. The NRI calculates a baseline relative risk measurement for each U.S. county and census tract for 18 natural hazards, based on expected annual loss, social vulnerability, and community resilience. |
