Overview:

Provides 12 western states and Alaska with information on future water supplies. NRCS field staff and cooperating partners collect and analyze data on depth and water equivalent of snowpack at more than 1,000 manual measurement sites and 885 automated stations (SNOTEL) to estimate annual water availability, spring runoff and summer streamflows. NRCS issues water supply forecasts for hundreds of points in the western United States near the first of the month between January and June each year and at other times as requested.
